Young Saints
raise
over £600 towards
new astro pitches
Woodley Saints FC’s
Under Sevens achieved their goal of drawing attention to themselves
in the GreenPark Challenge – among a sea of green T-shirts, their
red and white stripes stood out.
Two of their keen runners were twins Aaron and Jack Goodwin, who ran
with dad Andy.
Aaron found it “fun”, Jack just “fine” and dad “hard
work”.
Organiser Emma Caswell, whose husband Dave coaches them, said
“They all did really well.
“We had nine kids and 11 adults running, and the boys all ran all
the way round – I was expecting more puffing.”
“Everyone had a fantastic time, and did really well – especially
the girls who are only five still.
“The children really made me run!”
Their ‘Panther Squad’ boys – Max T, Blue, Lorcan, Max, Jack,
Aaron, and Josh – all managed impressive speed around the course,
with
sisters Charley and Hannah not far behind.
The group raised £6-700, which Caswell describes as “fantastic
– especially since our initial aim was to make at least £250”.
Their cause is astro-pitches up at Berkshire Sports, and they’re
working with Sonning Hockey Club to raise £50,000 for the project.
Anyone wanting to help with that, should contact Emma Caswell on 935
