Football fever will hit Reading on 16th and 17th June 2012 as over 2600 young footballers from far and wide attend the Woodley Saints 6- a-side football tournament, supported once again by McDonald’s. Organised by Woodley Saints FC and supported by McDonald’s franchisee, Pru Naik, this year’s tournament will again offer players the added attraction of honing their techniques on skills inflatables designed to help develop skills such as dribbling, aerial ability and shooting accuracy.

McDonald’s will also be providing specially commissioned individual medals and trophies for finalists and a full colour tournament programme. And there could be a surprise in store as at last season’s tournament McDonald’s provided Saturday attendees with the once in a lifetime chance to meet one of football’s greatest legends – Sir Geoff Hurst, McDonald’s Director of Football.

The event forms part of McDonald’s Community partnership with The FA and aims to inspire youngsters to get involved in grassroots football..

McDonald’s and Community Football

McDonald’s proudly supports football in Britain’s communities, providing more opportunities for anyone to volunteer and qualify as a community coach plus increasing access to free qualified coaching for youngsters everywhere.

Over the next four years, McDonald’s will continue its work with The FA which aims to help coaches play an even greater role in their local communities through the FA Charter Standard League programme to ultimately improve standards at grassroots level.

As The FA’s Community Partner since 2002, McDonald’s has helped to create more football for all by training and recruiting over 20,000 qualified football coaches and offering 2 million hours of free, quality football to young players across the UK.

The partnership will also support 400,000 volunteers, 6,000 grassroots clubs and create a total of 30,000 qualified coaches by 2014. For more information and the chance to win some fantastic football-themed prizes visit www.thefa.com/yourgame.
