Walking Football, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 60s or post-operative patients over 50, is designed to help men and women keep an active lifestyle irrespective of their age. It is also being increasingly recognised by the medical profession as eminently suitable for the second stage of post-operative recovery (with medical approval).

As might seem obvious, Walking Football prohibits players from running or indeed jogging while the ball is in play and is also non-contact with no slide tackles allowed.

Some basic coaching will be provided but not too much – the whole emphasis is on fitness and fun!!! Some personal warming up is highly recommended, especially if you haven’t been physically active for some years.

Walking Football is one of the many activities available as part of the SHINE over 60s programme – for more information, please contact shine@wokingham.gov.uk.
